review 1: The writing was adequate, the plot was adequate, but neither was outstanding. Geoffrey's actions are really not in character with the typical Peer from the period, and the idea that he would continue to get along with his brother despite his brother's betrayal seems absurd. Rebecca is a more interesting character, but she didn't have that much depth either. The book certainly didn't give me any desire to continue with the series.
review 2: I really liked this book. I was hesitant due to some of the previous reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised by it. Rebecca is a young, beautiful and naive woman who is working with her father at their London Inn. She is very quickly taken with a handsome man, Geoffrey, who has become stuck in town due to a damaged carria
... morege wheel. This is your typical man meets woman and falls quickly scenario, but with a few little twists along the way. Geoffrey is an Earl who was burned by a woman he thought he loved. He is determined to never fall in love or trust another woman, but quickly learns that may be tough when it comes to Rebecca. Their love story is simple and beautiful. There is mystery, suspense and intrigue that keeps the story going. The family dynamic on both sides pulls the reader in and ties the story together. This book leaves you with a good feeling at the end, making the story complete. less
