review 1: Yes, I read this book. Don't judge me. I have never actually seen the show "Jon and Kate Plus 8", but I have definitely read about it, especially when the divorce was going on. I was interested to see what this book would be like-- you know, any hints to the eventual divorce, etc. As far as the writing goes, the book was well-written enough to keep my attention. However, a lot of the prose was kind of ridiculous. Example:"I cried for weeks as I watched the delicate petals turn their brilliant shades of blue, reminded anew of the tender blue-wrapped gift I had willingly relinquished." (pg 25)"Selective reduction, in my opinion, is the politically correct term for the process by which a fetus is injected with a lethal dose of potassium chloride, which mercilessly silences fo... morerever the rhythmic beats of its tiny heart" (pg 30)Some confusingly written parts:"I had been out for a leisurely day of shopping with my mother and sister, Chris." (pg 17) -- Me, the first time I read this: How is Chris both your mother and sister... how would that even work... OH, you mean two different people! She probably could have just cut the "Chris" part. It isn't vital to understanding anything.Another annoying point: It isn't "God" who allowed you to safely deliver six children. It's the doctors and modern medicine. "God" isn't "using" the doctors to keep you safe. The doctors are using their own brains and compassion to keep you safe. Humans have done pretty incredible things, and there's no need to introduce the supernatural to explain these things. SCIENCE!!! A few questions:Kate talks a lot about money problems-- Jon losing his job repeatedly. Before they have kids, Kate is a nurse and Jon is working a night shift at a local company. Aren't fertility treatments kind of expensive? Could they really afford them? Why does the book say it is by "Jon & Kate Gosselin" when the Kate Gosselin is the only voice we hear? How much of this did Jon really write?
review 2: Multiple Blessing is a documentary story of the Gosselin family. Jon and Kate are the parents of two sets of multiples, twins whom are Mady and Cara, and sextuplets whom are Hannah, Alexis, Leah, Collin, Aaden, and Joel. Kate explains the struggles she had with the new routine for the sextuplets and how to set up volunteers for different hours, maintain the laundry, cooking, and other daily routines. She explains during and after her pregnancy with the sextuplets so much has happen. First of all, Jon lost his job. Secondly, after the babies were born Jon’s father past away. Lastly, there house was getting small so they moved to a bigger home after the babies were a little bit older. What did I like about the book? I like how she was very detailed into different events and situation she was in. The way she describes things you can tell what kind of mood she was in that day. Also, I like how Kate describes a little bit of her relationship with her husband Jon, and how the work together as a team to raise this eight kids. Most of all, I liked how she added photo’s to each chapter and what the kids looked like when they were preemies to toddlers.I would recommend this book to anyone, for any age. If you like autobiographies, then is just the book for you. This is a good documentary of a life with two sets of multiples and the obstacles and daily routine was like. less
