review 1: A very intriguing read. I'm not saying I don't have questions--physicality is so minimized at the beginning of the book but becomes so important by the end--and I'm not sure why Matthew and Epp are supposed to be the main characters when they are missing for so much of it (OK, and I'm now a Kyo fan, big time. Great back story, interesting character. I also found Mary and Bartleby engaging and compelling, much more so than Matthew). The pacing was good; the concepts were interesting twists on older themes (angels, zombies, life after death); and anything weaving together history, art, metaphysics, and philosophy, if well-written (which this was, much better than most self-published work I've seen), will definitely pique my interest. Many, many more commas were needed, but t... moreo each their own. An entertaining book!
review 2: While well written, I found this book difficult to get into. The concept is unique and Mr. Devon has certainly created an interesting scenario but I had a hard time following along at times. Many of the story lines were left hanging, no doubt to be answered in later books in the series. The angels aren’t like any you’ve seen before and the zombies are not stereotypes making this book much more interesting than the average fair in the genre. I did end the book wondering what was to come of Matthew, Epp and the others.Heat Rating: NoneRating: 3Reviewed By: Jeanne Stone-Hunter for My Book Addiction and More less
