review 1: I have never given Josh Lanyon three stars before so this is big for me! This book ,along with the series , is amazing! This book ,like his others ,is amazing!I am addicted to this series and will continue to read the books. However, this is the most dysfunctional relationship(jake and adrien) ever and while it worked in the previous three novels, it is starting to look ridiculous now. I understand Jake's inability to handle his sexuality and whatnot is part of the general plot of the series. The problem is that Jake has never once put Adrien's needs before his own. Adrien is too self-assured of a character to settle for that but yet it keeps happening. I would accept all the potholes in their relationship if Jake had EVER ONCE stuck up for Adrien instead of his f... moreamily, work, other suspects, friends, or the public for God's sake . I make this point because I accept that Jake's denial of Adrien is important to the furthering of the plot in this series. The continuance of this relationship only works ,if Adrien's needs come first at least once in their relationship. I would accept all of this if that had happened ONCE. It hasn't . it gets three stars because Josh Lanyon is an amazing author and this is a well written book. I just question the author's motives in this relationship.
review 2: Adrien sleuthing around again; this time in the rich scene of Hollywood glitterati.I have to say, the mystery plot itself wasn't uber compelling in this one. Unlike the others, it definitely focused more on Adrien's personal life. Admittedly, both the overarching plot and Adrien's personal life are seamlessly put together (just like in previous books): nothing feels forced or artificial, so it keeps you very much immersed in everything.Other than that, things remain the same: the writing is always smooth, smart and appropriately humorous, giving insight into Adrien's mindset; dialogue seems very realistic, and considering this installment is heavy on the emotional turmoil, I found it tugged a little at the heart strings.Recommended to anyone who likes the Adrien English series (and if you're this far, why wouldn't you?), and to a lesser extent mystery fans. I'd probably recommend this more to M-M romance fans, but I think you'd have to have followed the progression between Adrien and Jake to get full understanding of the situation. less

Mystery was good in this one but now I'm just reading for the relationship.
