review 1: Adrien can't catch a break. It's been three weeks since his heart surgery and someone is trying to break into his loft. He calls the police and Jake. Jake comes over to help, even though Adrien has asked for time to figure out if he can be with him again. But where would our intrepid mystery writer be without a dead body. As the renovations continue on the bookstore, the crew finds a fifty year old dead body. As much as he doesn't want to, Adrien is pulled into the mystery. Meanwhile, he tries to figure out if he wants a relationship with Jake- which he acknowledges might not be the the wisest or healthiest choice.
review 2: rating: 4.5/5Wow. That was some mystery. And what an ending. Damn.A hell of a rollercoaster ride. A cold case that's not as cold as it see... morems. And an emotional ride through the Adrien/Jake obstacle course. And what an ending. Oh my, I'm speechless. It shattered my heart, and left me little bits and pieces to pick up on my own. Really powerful...This is the (for now) end of the quirky mystery series with a slow forming but complex relationship between a gay mystery bookstore owner, mystery writer (and sometimes amateur sleuth) who has a habit of attracting dead bodies and a deeply closeted homicide detective.If the author ever decides to add another one, I'll scoop it up even before the ink finishes drying! So, please, more Adrien English! less
