review 1: I downloaded this on my Kindle as a free book earlier this year. I finally got to it a couple weeks ago and I flew through it. It was a much easier read than my last book (Anna Karenina)and I found myself getting sucked in and losing track of time. That's when I know I am reading a book I enjoy.I do find sci-fi/fantasy/horror to generally be my favorite genre of multimedia, so I was instantly interested in the theme. I enjoyed the story (which begins before a zombie outbreak) and I felt like I was right there with the main character (Kell) the entire time.Long story short...I liked it. If you don't like zombie-related things, don't waste your time. Otherwise, it's worth a read. Now I have to decide to read the sequel or try something new.
review 2: This
... morebook is a kind of prequel to the Living with the Dead series yet it is in itself a completely different story! Its from the mind of a scientist at the heart of the plague and whilst it does follow the story and in some places cross the LwtD series it is a stand alone story that doesn't require the reading of the other books to understand! Joshua Guess shows that his writing isn't limited to one character and his ability to tell a story in a different style has elevated him to one of the best authors I've ever read! less
