review 1: Magistral cómic independente que documenta los cuatro últimos años de vida de los padres de la autora. Se trata de una narración lineal y sin efectismos, no tanto en la linea de Arrugas de Roca como en la de la devastadora Amour de Michael Haneke, aunque se permite algún momento de humor que contribuye a hacer la obra algo más ligera y accesible. No es un trabajo que profundice en el patetismo de la vejez pues está narrado desde el punto de vista de la hija, que lucha día a día contra lo inevitable, haciendo lo posible para mejorar la calidad de vida de sus padres en sus últimos días.
review 2: i thought the subject matter might be too much, the decline and eventual passing of an elderly couple in LA, but it really spoke to me having experienced rel... moreatives and friends go through the process of dying. it made me think a lot about what it may be like in the future with caring for my own parents, and actually helped alleviate some fears i had. this book gave me compassion for lars and rachel and to imagine that for my own parents. and really, maybe down the road myself. declining health and death is reality. but, as hard and aweful as it will be, this book told me that it will also be ok. what a gift. less
