review 1: I wanted to LOVE this book because I LOVE the author. There were some things that troubled me and I don't want to list because they could be potential spoilers for future readers. Some inconsistencies with the timeline were my biggest problem. I was constantly flipping back and forth to check on events because I was sure I read them differently. Another aspect that put me off the story was how quickly things jumped. Big events that took place were merely touched on in the huge two year span from the end of one chapter to the beginning of another. I am not a fan of angst. And this book has it in abundance. While it may be determined as a finished novel, the journey to the end is riddled with more drama than any one person should endure which made almost the entire jo... moreurney heartbreakingly difficult! If that is something you love, then this book is for you! For a first time novel, I think the author did a great job. I don't doubt this is a tough thing to do and I hate to leave reviews that are less than stellar, so kudos. It had potential and I think that with a little more guidance from betas, future books can be 4 to 5 star quality. review 2: ***author gifted copy in exchange for an honest review***JR Grant awesome job for a debut novel. The story line pulled me in and I couldn't put the book down. I needed to know what was happening. You kept me intrigued with all the lil twists. Love when authors do that. I cried with Lani and can relate to the situations that she went through. She was a strong woman that held her head high and took every obstacle thrown at her. Parker Johnson is her best friend from the time they started walking. I loved the relationship they had. He stood by her side through the worst of times. I was rooting for him from the get go. Kade Foster drove me insane. I wish it was possible to throw my fist in his face. This story was well written and easy for most woman to relate too. The ending was perfect and didn't leave you questioning anything. Great job JR. less
