review 1: Eh... what? Is that it? Really, you're going to finish THERE??That's not a cliff-hanger. That's stopping in the middle of the bleedin' story!Other than that, I quite liked this. Well, I spent a whole day reading it so I must have - although I was trying to avoid marking, running and cleaning the bath, so that may have had something to do with it.It did take me a while to figure out who the hell everyone was, but once I got it I was sorted. Only a couple of things bugged me. Ariana was telling Garren that he'd feel one of "them" soon. Eh, weren't you saying just, like, a moment ago, that YOU don't feel one of them? She went from moaning about not fitting in to being everyone's bosom buddy in about 5 seconds. Also, she got cosy smoochy smoochy with Garren awfully qu... moreick, too. I'm criticising a lot here. But it was a good adventure, and a really interesting world. Arianna was okay and there were plenty of drool-worthy men to keep me happy. But I didn't love it. Not sure I'll continue on.
review 2: I won this book in the give-away. First book of a trilogy. Interesting characters set in another world. Classic fight of good vs. evil with overtones of spirituality & reincarnation. Fantasy/Sci-fi with beings that can suck the soul out of mere mortals and the guardians that are trying to protect them from devastation. This book is an introduction to the characters. If you are a fan of this genre, I would recommend. Looking forward to book 2 in the fall. less
