review 1: I may be biased because of how much I like the classic 'No Good Very Bad Day' but I thought that this book wasn't quite as good as that one. It was written in 2014, and it's a good book that explains just because we want to be good doesn't mean our actions will always create a good result. Alexander tries to be the perfect boy, but of course, he falls short, and realizes that it is more fun to get into trouble every now and then.
review 2: Alexander is back! And while this isn't as good as the first Alexander book, it is still a very good book! Alexander basically lost a Saturday of fun and play to staying in his room thinking about his latest crime and discovering consequences. He thinks that the consequence should be the tummy ache he has from eating an ent... moreire box of doughnuts with some sympathy from Mom. Mom has other ideas, such as spending the day thinking about what he did wrong with no sympathy from her. Alexander, shockingly, came to the realization Mom wanted him to have: maybe it is better to be a well behaved boy rather than deal with consequences (many parents might argue this part of the book fails for the realistic fiction category I'm putting it in!). We then see Dad suggest perhaps Alexander should try just a week of being the best boy ever, before committing to an entire life of it. Then we follow Alexander on that week. This is pretty funny stuff and ultimately quite realistic! I much preferred the humor in this book to the so called humorous Book with no Pictures which I also just read. less
