review 1: Meh. I think that sums this book up for me. I really enjoyed Ms. Greer's early acting work, which is why I picked this up from the library. I realized that it wasn't one of her characters reading/writing this, but at the same time? That seems almost exactly what we got. There are sections here that are quirky and fun, and others that had me almost turning off the book. I don't regret the time listening, but I definitely don't see myself recommending it, either.
review 2: Wish I liked it more. She seems like a delight, and this was one I enjoyed in its entirety on audiobook, with her reading the book, so I felt like I got about as close to her as someone listening to a recording of her could. But for someone with such a long list of movie, film and theater
... more credits, she had precious little to say about her career experiences and way too much advice to give. So this is more a note to her editor than to Judy Greer: I want advice from someone I've come to know (even if that someone is a well-known actor). The conundrum about Judy Greer is that she has done so much and still managed to maintain a healthy anonymity. Which means this was a chance to get to know her through all of her work. An opportunity unfulfilled. Write another book, Judy. You don't have to "dish" on co-stars...just tell us what it's like to be such a great character actress by using a bazillion examples of the work you've done. less
