review 1: i was fully intrigued with this book from the moment i read the discription. Young Alexis is getting ready for her eighteenth birthday. she loves music and has two great friends. we discover right away that she is not going to have the typical birtday party. Alexis learns that her parents are not her real parents and her Uncle Paul is actually her father. Paul is a vampire hunter and he wants Alexis to join the fight.Alexis's motther had been killed by a vampire. Alexis is confused and upset about the whole hunter experience, especially whwn she discovers the new boy at school that she has fallen for, is a vampire. Needless, to say her father hates Salem Young, (tthe youmg vampire Alex has fallen for.) You really need to read this story, you will love it. I can hardly wait ... moreto get my hands on the second one in this series!,,
review 2: This is a sweet vampire tale, of love and fate. Alexis' life suddenly changes when her mother leaves. She doesn't know why until she meets the beautiful stranger in music class. Salem is a vampire, but he is more than that and has waited a long time to meet Alexis. When the truth starts to reveal itself Alex is thrown into a world of vampires and vampire hunters but does she have to choose between her family history or her future with Salem? This book was a different outlook on vampire law. It shares many characteristics with various vampire books but it also has a difference making the story unique. It has lots of twists, angst and turns. Alex's attitude toward school was weird and her friends didn't really come across as best friends you would have grown up with. Salem is a sweetheart with a heart of gold. You get to read some history about the characters but not a great deal. I would have liked to see Alex get a little more hot and bothered over Salem, it didn't come across as an overpowering love. Overall it was a nice read, and I would recommend. less
