review 1: I only bought the Sora Log manga because I had read this series (same mangaka) in scanlation already, and I'm happy to be able to report that the German translation is really good at bringing all the meaning across (AND includes honorifics, not something you'll always find in German editions). The cover may look smutty, but at least this first volume really is only concerned with hugs and kisses. You have a forthright, genki 16-year-old Yukino comfortable with her family, her help in the flower shop the family owns, her friends and her childhood friend who treats her and whom she sees like an older brother. And then there's Tanabata of her 16th year (we get a frame story of three years later when she's 19 and at Tanabata again), where she meets Ryu Wakui for the first time, ... morea transfer student whose father was English and who has the most amazing blue eyes. Yukino falls in love, although she can't really categorize her feelings at first, but because she's direct and caring her feelings strongly come across to Ryu, who has - even though he's sixteen himself - a much wider pool of experience to fall back on (which will be slowly unveiled through the three volumes). He is charmed by her and the way he feels when he is with her.Because this is a mix of comedy and drama, the forceful and inventive Ryu convinces Yukino's mother that he wants to do a homestay at her house while he goes to school in Japan.By the end of the first volume the two have already admitted their mutual love, and been accepted by the family and friends of Yukino - however the background of Ryu is already throwing problems their way.I like the series for its directness and its celebration of love and care - hero and heroine never have eyes for anyone else, really. The problems are external and - if you accept the preposterous background they gave Ryu - wholly realistic for a situation like this.
review 2: This is a review for the entire series.Overall series rating is 4 stars. So the manga was cute. I can't imagine a hot British slash Japanese guy.If I see one one day, I will give this book 5 stars. I also didn't give this series 5 stars because of it's ending. SERIOUSLY? There isn't even a sequel and that is how you end everything?!?!I loved Ryuu's character.I thought Yukino's character was amusing.HAHAH. Some parts of this manga were so funny. I'm not gonna name it because I don't want to spoil it if anyone who reads this ever read the manga but yeah... It was funny.:DI LOVE YUKINO'S HAIR!!! less
