review 1: I originally read an excerpt online and could not stop laughing. I knew I had to read the whole book. Alpert certainly did not disappoint in the laughter department. Her funny, witty, but absolutely true portrayal of being a mom and the obstacles, challenges, and joys are spot on! As a single mom I spent a great deal of time nodding my head and then a few other moments cringing in anticipation of some of the events I am sure will happen. Alpert delivered an absolute hilarious novel of mom-isms and the honest to God thoughts most of us have, but are not ballsy enough to say!
review 2: I wanted to really like this book, but it feels like the author was trying waay too hard. It's a compilation of quick stories and posts from the author's blog Baby Sideburns. She
... more writes about the sucky parts of a being a parent, but in a funny way. However, it seemed like the author thought she was much more funny than she actually is and kept mentioning how the book was so funny that it would make the reader pee themselves (I never came close to laughing out loud, let alone entering the laugh so hard I peed myself zone). At first some of it was kind of amusing, but nothing that would make me fall on the floor laughing, which is what I was hoping for when I picked this book up. There's also so much cussing that it made me wonder if she thought putting a cuss word in each sentence would make it funnier. Yes, by the name of the book I realized there would be cuss words, but it was just excessive. I like her blog, so I'll continue to read it, but I won't be recommending the book to anyone. less

Ok, so maybe I just got the gimpy copy, but my Nook Book only had 189 pages in it. MANY of which had ONE sentence on them. The last 10 pages were a list of names that I didn't bother to see who they were or why they were there, and then a repeat of the publisher and copyright info that was at the beginning. I didn't bother to read "About the Author" either, but that was only half a paragraph. Normally Baby Sideburns cracks me up via her Facebook posts and blog posts but I must say, I am kinda disappointed in the book. It wasn't nearly as funny as I thought it would be based on the hype in the reviews, and in the sample I got before I purchased it. I really just feel kinda cheated. My book was too short, and the content just wasn't for me. Not that wasn't funny, but I was just expecting more.
