review 1: I really liked the strong emphasis of God's concern in working in people's lives to bring together seemingly unrelated circumstances for totally different corners of their lives to work on their soul to bring them to Him, back to Him, or even just to teach them and make them stronger or wiser. This is so true. It's touching to me how much He really does care about each individual and giving them comfort and peace no matter their trial. This book reminded me of that old song, "This world is not my home. I'm just a passing through." We aren't here to try to make this world a perfect place. Comfort in this life is an extra because it is not what we should be living for. Our mansion is in heaven, in a perfect place where wind or storm or wicked men cannot harm it like happens ... moreto our treasures here. Everything and everyone we have here could be gone in an instant. "Lay not up for yourselves treasures on earth were moth and rust doth corrupt and where thieves break through an steal, but lay up for yourselves treasure in heaven where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt and where thieves do not break through and steal." Our goals on this earth should be for laying up those treasures and doing everything in our power to make sure that our loved one's will be there to share them with us. This life is just a drop in the bucket compared to eternity. I liked her spiritual applications. On the downside, though this may be totally rooted in personal preference, this book probably wouldn't have gotten me through the first chapter if I had been depending on the intrigue to make me sit down and read it in an actual book form. As it was, I had it on audio CD. So, I played it on my walkman while I had a day to spend cooking. It was enjoyable to listen to while I was doing something else, but it wouldn't, like other books have, make me so curious that I would be willing to sit down and "waste" my time when there were other things I could be doing. This is a definitely a romance, no mystery, and very little action. There is some at the end for those that enjoy light action, but most of it is thinking, considering, and focusing on inner struggles. I enjoyed the scenes where the people we interacting and doing something. Still, even those were few and far between. This would be good for those that enjoy a light read.
review 2: Alex Brady is sherrif's deputy in L.A. with his K-9 partner, Bo. Alex moved out to California after graduation from high school after losing his father, an FDNY firefighter in Manhattan, to the attacks from September 11th. Since that day, Alex has closed his heart to everyone, his family, his girlfriend Holly and God and focused on fighting crime. Clay Michaels works with Alex and Clay's wife Jamie, is determined to try and help Alex cope with his father's death. There is an environmental group called the REA who have been targeting new housing developments by starting fires to them as protest for the country becoming materialistic and not caring for the environment. Alex is so focused on getting this group that he goes undercover as a member of the group to find out their plans in his spare time. When a fire breaks out in a development that he knew about, Alex is determined to arrest the arsonists and stop this from happening again. While he is there, tragedy strikes and it changes Alex's life forever.Again, I felt that this book was a little predictable but the story kept your interest. I enjoyed how everything worked out in the end. This was the first series that I have read from Karen Kingsbury and I thoroughly enjoyed it! I have purchased several of her stand-alone books that I will be reading before jumping into purchasing another series. I am looking forward to writing more reviews on her books in the near future. less

This is the final and 3rd book of this 9/11 series by Karen Kingsbury, and how I wish it wasn't! These were very inspiring books, and though there was sadness in the characters' lives, they found hope, love, and faith in God again, until then they had a difficult time moving on with their lives. That is hard to explain, but I love the way Karen brings across the message of God's love and protection for us- it's not preachy, etc. She is excellent in her writing! I highly recommend this book, I feel this series is beyond 5 stars!

The story was cute, but a little too corny for my taste. There was a continuity error in the book, something that bothered me immensely. On page 154, Sierra is in 5th grade. On page 187, Sierra is in 6th grade. I know it's not essential to the story. But only a few days passed between pages, not enough time for her to excel to the next grade. It's something that should have been caught in the editing process.

What a wonderful storyteller, Karen is. As usual she had me bawling by the end of the book.
