review 1: this is the sweetest book on love and crushes and regrets. So Jackson (who Paul calls Jackie) is a cad in his teenage years. Paul sits and is always there for him. They have been best friends forever. They even figure out they are gay together. Anyways Paul as a teen has a crush on Jackie, who is scared of losing Paul and doesn't deal well with this. So he does dufus thing number 1 and runs. Dufus thing number 2 he tries to froget Paul with a series of mindless one nighters. Bad Jackie bad. So one night Jackie figures out he misses Paul and loves him. So dufus thing number 3 he decides after ten years to go back home to capture Paul not thinking Paul may have moved on. this dufus number 3 isn't so dufusy though I must say. these two friends are so sweet when together. They... more laugh and talk about everything. They take care of each other. Put each others needs ahead of their own to make their friend happy. This is until Jack does dufus thing #4 and this hurts their friendship and tears Jack apart. You'll cry at how crushed Jack is. The elephant in the room though is Curt, Paul's boyfriend who despises Jack and does a horrible thing to Jack by rubbing salt in Jack's wound. there is a HEA that is so amazingly beautiful and sweet that you just hope that it stays wonderful. A story on love and understanding. Growing up and maturing into the person needed to be for the love you have for someone else. So beautiful and sweet it will tug at your heart
review 2: This short story had my heartaching for a majority of the story. Jackson is someone that can easily be related to and he's a perfect example for regret-fulness. The reasoning behind his rejection of Paul in their younger days made sense, its understandable why he never gave Paul a chance. After all who runs to the thing they most fear? Paul, I really feel for since he was never really given a reason and reader's don't really know if he was aware of Jack's reason for running off and I'm not going to assume he just knew since they were best friends. Even with all the time apart he still held onto the love he had for Jack. After all he couldn't have known that Jack would just show back up in his life out of the blue.Curt was not a likable character and I couldn't sympathize with him. Had he not been so cocky or jealousy he might have won Paul over. But he just kept throwing Paul and Jack together with his actions. Frankly he should have just left everything a lone and been supportive of Paul. less
