review 1: er. this book was kinda boring. my mom bought it when i was in my obsessed with gosselins phase... i liked the pictures. the kids are so kewlios!!! when i watch their show, whatever the sextuplets are saying usually cracks me up. they really should show more of them instead of kate talking... and jon really needs to take off his earrings. and to settle down and asking for attention. actually both of them do. but yea i only really like this book cuz i made up this insane game that drove my sister crazy. heh heh. it was a sweet book.
review 2: Kate Gosselin, Eight Little Faces: A Mom's Journey (Zondervan, 2009)Jon and Kate Plus Eight is one of the four or five most annoying shows on television, not just because it's so-called “reality TV”, but because Kate Go
... moresselin is one of the least entertaining neurotics I've ever seen, and because she seems to be doing a fine job of transferring her neuroses to her kids. So my wife brought this home and I made the mistake of looking it over. I had somehow missed the fact that she's also a militant religious fanatic the very few times I've been unable to avoid seeing the show. The book is put together to look like one of those horrendously cheesy scrapbooks you see in scrapbooking shows on the DIY network, with gewgaws and pieces that are supposed to look like post-its with bible verses related to whatever aspect of pregnancy and motherhood Gosselin is talking about on that particular page. It's been the case with many of the books I was sure I was going to loathe before I even opened them over the past six months that I actually ended up respecting, or even liking, them. This one breaks the streak; it was actually worse than I expected. Even if you're a fan of the show, you'd have to be able to put up with the sort of mealy, treacly crap that even your most notoriously sentimental relatives wouldn't even consider putting in their scrapbooks in order to get through this turkey. Got fascinated with the kids while the first version ran. She's not the greatest writer.
