review 1: I'm not sure whether I liked this book. While on one hand, the world building was quite good and the romance was very nicely developed, I didn't much like the rather flippant style of writing and I found the story itself to be a bit too bizarre and far-fetched. It is a quick read and moves along at a fast pace and if you like your romance contemporary with a bit of a twist (in this case, travelling between alternate universes), this is the book for you.
review 2: I have to start by saying, I could not put this book down. It keeps you intrigued right until the last page. The UnTied Kingdom is about two parallel worlds, both located in London, England. One is a modernized one where Eve Carpenter is an ex-popstar, and the other is one where the British Empire do
... morees not exist, and Britain is at war, trying to make sure that they do not get annexed to the French Empire. On a paragliding mis-adventure Eve accidentally falls through a portal and ends up in a another world, where Britain is at war. She is rescued by Major Harker, however, falls under suspicion of being a spy for the enemy. What follows is a number of situations where Eve is constantly put into a place where she has to prove she is not spy and not going crazy (although at points she thinks she is). Major Harker doesn't want to believe that Eve is a spy, but he cannot do anything until proven otherwise. Harker employs Eve is a hunt to find an very rare equipment in his world, called a computer. Harker, Eve and a couple of Harker's trusted soldiers go out on a mission to secure this computer, which Eve can help out with. In the process, his patience, loyalty and career are put on the line, and he also begins to fall in love with Eve. I enjoyed the book quite a lot, it is serious and humorous at parts. The only thing I didn't like much was that it took forever for the two main characters to get together. But, overall a great and engaging debut novel. I would definitely read others from this author. less

Pretty good most of the way through but I thought the ending was somewhat disappointing.
