review 1: This was one of those nice stories about nice people. Sam and Bria's marriage has broken down and on the day she comes to the Rodeo to deliver the divorce papers, Sam is distracted by her and is injured by a bull, losing his memory.Sam is not one of those hard uncompromising alpha males who insist on dominating his wife. He just wants to be the best husband and provider he can be and he can't understand why Bria doesn't see and appreciate that.Bria is just tired. Tired of being alone while Sam builds his empire, tired of being unneeded by her fiercely independent husband who wont even let her stick a bandaid on an injured finger. Tire of feeling useless. When Sam isn't around on the day their dreams were lost that's the final straw.When he loses his memory it is only her g... moreuilt about the injury that forces her to hang around to help him recover. She has a new independent life planned away from the ranch.Forced to spend time with each other, both Sam and Bria learn quite a lot about each other and Sam especially starts to understand what drove Bria away from the marriage. But mending what went wrong may be a different matter with so much hurt and lack of communication behind them.Both Sam and Bria will need to make a leap of faith to mend this marriage and get them the happy ending they deserve.For a Desire the heat levels were fairly low. Plenty of sizzle between the protagonists but sex scenes were minimal, appropriate to the story line and relationship issues.This is the first of a series about six foster brothers who have made good and we meet them throughout the book in readiness for their individual stories in The Good, the Bad and the Texan.
review 2: Heading to the rodeo to meet up with her hero to give him divorce papers was the heroines only option until she sees her hero being attacked by a raging bull. Now the hero has lost his memories, the last six months in his life. Before their marriage fell apart, before she lost their baby with a devastating miscarriage and before he demanded a divorce. So now the heroine is stuck playing it out until the hero gets his memory back. It's not a hardship for the heroine in the sense because she still loves her husband, after all, love wasn't their problem...It was a great read, I adored the characters in the book and going through the emotions with them. My one issue was, the book was really short! I wanted more. less
