review 1: I don't give many books a five star rating but this one really touched my soul and addressed what has been happening in my life: I identified strongly with Katrina's journey and she is quite wise. Her insights are expressed in a beautifully simple, straightforward way. Ms. Kenison is an excellent writer. I sobbed many times while reading this book - but always in a good way. Even death and loss are life affirming - it is all in the way you look at things and accept the pulse of life.
review 2: I am a big fan of Katrina Kenison's writing, and "Magical Journey" met my very high expectations. Poetic, authentic, deep but relatable -- I turned the last page of this book and then flipped right back to page one and began it again. I knew I'd read it too fast the fir... morest time, and this book is one to slow down and savor. So many threads resonated deeply with me -- themes of grief and loss, friendship, parenting, mid-life. And Katrina's writing is so warm, so accessible, it's like sitting down with a good friend over a warm cup of coffee and a plate of scones. I highly recommend "Magical Journey" as a beautiful book to read yourself AND give as a gift to someone you love. less
