review 1: This is the first in a book about siblings and I have to admit that I really liked it especially the writing which pulled me in and I was actually wanting my teachers to hurry up and get my classes over with so I could read what happens next and how the hero and heroine would finally get together when things were so complicated, you see the hero has been in a relationship for three years with a woman he likes, their families have the same social status and her father is his boss.I must admit I don't like cheating but this isn't completely so, from the get go you can clearly see that their relationship is not perfect, after all if it was the hero who bought the ring would have popped the question long back, despite everyone telling him to, instead he is swamped with dealing... more with all the hospital stuff and dealing with his terror of a boss, even his girlfriend prefers to work rather than spend time with him, but these two have come to accept what their families want and you can see it is not what they want but they don't acknowledge that for a long time, instead the hero Garret finds himself taking care and worrying about Darcy who he rescued when she was stranded in a storm, while driving to her mother's to start a new life(she's pregnant and the baby's father unwilling).I really liked Darcy, she didn't want charity but was in a bad condition, needing to rest for her baby, as well again finding out that her mom was not to be trusted and would not put her first ever and then comes Garret who is so good to her, takes her in for a few days and then even makes her live with his grandmother, he's the first person in her life to be always there for her while she doesn't want to take advantage. Then there is Garret's best friend and his girlfriend, who seem to feel a pull towards each other, but his girlfriend has always followed her father, I really felt that the hero and his girlfriend needed to be woken up to reality and they are when Garret fears of losing Darcy, when she tells him she is not willing to be the other woman, waiting for him to sort out his feelings instead she is going to make a good life for her baby, that he finally realizes that he needs her in his life and finally does something with his life, instead of stuck in a rut.
review 2: Sometimes it happens that an author's voice is just so compelling that it can take the craziest set of plot details and spin a story I cannot put down. This was exactly what I wanted to read today. It had perfect pacing, well-rounded characters and fabulous sexual tension. A too-cute small town, the hero's overeager, super-welcoming family and a two-dimensional villain knock a star off, but I didn't realize these things even annoyed me until after I was finished reading. I was so transported that the Curmudge-O-Meter stayed silent throughout. less
