review 1: The beginning of the volume finishes the "Yoh and Haruna go away alone finally, at Haruna's instigation (does she really know what that usually means?" arc, which is actually quite funny (the cram school arc added NOTHING to the story or the development between Haruna and Yoh). Yoh really shows that he knows Haruna well enough that her impulsive invitation was meant as just "spending time alone together and enjoying it" and not "let's improve our skinship undisturbed", and it turns into a totally typical conversation for those two, openly discussing what they expect from each other, both Haruna and Yoh (although of course Yoh is embarrassed, but by now he knows that this comes with loving Haruna - she won't get it if he doesn't spell it out). And then the gang all show up ... moreanyway, because Asami couldn't handle this turn of events after all.In fact the next chapter keeps turning Asami into even more of a b*tch than she was in the initial taking away of Fumi from Haruna's first budding love impulses, because she thought her brother was spending too much time on coaching her. This time her spoiltness really catches up with her and she strikes desperately (with words, like she does) at Yoh and Haruna's closeness. On the positive side the two put her right in her place and while Yoh is quite open about Asami not being very lovable (nice underhanded punch in the stomach there) he also calms her down by pointing out that they'll always be brother and sister and no one can usurp that relationship (I can relate: I've got a great brother and used to be a b*tchy selfish sister when we were still school-aged; I can be very thankful that he's a forgiving sort of guy - I will say that I never sabotaged a relationship of his, heh). And you know, from my personal point of view: she doesn't deserve Yoh or Fumi. Maybe it's a feel-good message for the current and former b*tchy types, heh. They surely don't get much love otherwise in media.I really thought the chapter with Mami should have come much earlier, she's the only one used as a deus-ex-machina almost continually. It's a nice cross of personal problems with a school-trip to Kyoto and uses that (and text-messages and pics) to great effect. Just lovely. I wish there had been more Mami/Asaoka ^^, those two could have run rings around each other. The last chapter leads into the next volume and the positive home stretch: it's time for Yoh to decide what to do and Haruna's personality highlights her care for him and also a way of addressing the fact that Yoh hasn't thought about it much before and then he even finds something to become passionate about, but it's in Tokyo...
review 2: Ahh, that was really cute!It continues with Haruna's ever present optimism and good will, even when she's in tears. I just really love her character, and how casual her relationship with Yoh is.At times this volume felt really rushed? They are coming to the end of it. I think they could have left out the drama with Asami and instead drawn out the college application part with Yoh.Ahhh, I can't believe I'm gonna be done with this series. less

The individual volumes never really rack up 5 stars, but the series is definitely 5!
