review 1: I loved this book. It just became a new favorite. I'm excited that its a first in a series. There's great character development and the story line is fast past. There isn't a lot of build up, the authors style of writing kind of gives things away as you go, but I still enjoyed it. There is enough description and depth that you follow the story. I'd love to see more background on Ivy's mother in the other books. I didn't feel like there was enough explanation on her. I can't wait to read the next book. I'll be hanging onto this one to reread later.
review 2: As a first time author Nielsen did an excellent job of creating an entertaining story- Many of the characters and their back story are well developed while others characters are not as clearly defined. The... more story as well had some parts that were told masterfully while other story lines felt rushed and glazed over. In all I did enjoy this book and found the overall story itself interesting; I look forward to reading the rest of the series. less
