review 1: I know this is an Ellora's Cave book, but dang! The smut got a little too descriptive. When one scene spans many, many, many pages; it's too long. Time to rewrite the smut, make it shorter and better. If one scene gets too long-winded, it's all too easy to start skimming. Never good for an author when their readers start to skim chunks of the book. I mean, when a blowjob scene is nearly a chapter long; you know you've gone too far...The writing was good, the plot was solid - though I could've done without the last blowup from Nicole. It really wasn't needed for the plot, a different reaction from her would have made her more like-able. As it is, I found her all too whiny, bull-headed and plain stupid. Who turns down a man like that again and again? In doubt? Sure, anyone w... moreould be after having been called a slut on national TV. But the constant insecurity and back and forth was just annoying.I liked Logan. He was level-headed and man enough to take a step back when needed. Gorgeous, great body, and good head on his shoulders - he's the elusive perfect male that's impossible to find in real life.I like Ms Jamieson's male characters. She usually is pretty good at getting their characteristics just right and make them a dream-boat. But I rarely like her female leads. They come across as whiny, too stubborn, and downright bitchy. A more down to earth, level-headed female lead, and this book would have been a solid 5 stars. As it is, with how much Nicole annoyed me (and the too descriptive smut), I'm docking it down to 3 stars.
review 2: 3.5 stars.I wanted to rate this higher, I really did. The hockey action was fab, the hero Logan was divine - but the heroine Nicole took 90% of the book to pull the hypothetical blindfold off her bloody eyes.She had been burned by her jerk-off hockey player ex who mouthed off about her on national (or really, international) TV. He commented that because Nicole had dated a few hockey players in her time, she must be working her way through his team and basically referred to her as a hockey whore. I get that that is super shitty, but didn't think that Logan deserved to be constantly pushed away because of it. He had already proven to her how decent and caring a person he was, so it just annoyed me that it continued on for as long as it did.As usual though, I loved the Jamieson naughtiness of this one. Nice and hot. less
