Rule of Three
review 1: 3.5 starsThis is the third book in the series and we rejoin the trio as they discover Kassidy is pregnant. This isn’t a mistake but a planned decision that they have made to move their committed relationship forward. So we are moving along nicely, following them and then disaster strikes. The fallout from this has a devastating effect on the relationship dynamic between the three and everything that they have worked to build up over the three years, starts to collapse around them. Some of the decisions made were questionable, and indeed in a relationship of two wouldn’t have happened, because conversations would have been forced that didn’t happen in this case. A simple ‘ I need you, please don’t shut me out,’ would have saved a lot of emotional turmoil and angst.... more And pretty much that was a common message for me in this book, that ultimately, they were not good communicators. Whether this was because of how many people were involved in the relationship or just the type of individuals there were, is your own guess, but a lot of the additional pain and grief could have been solved if they had been open and honest in how they felt. Instead some were closing themselves off, whilst others appeared to be running away from the situation. As you can expect, this book carries a certain amount of emotional angst, but I have to say for the subject matter, I was never truly dragged into their maelstrom of emotions. I would have liked a little bit deeper reflection from the characters as to how this colossal event affected them emotionally. The turn this book took from the very beginning did I admit surprise me, and it wasn’t the book I was expecting. Saying that, I was interested to watch the fallout, the attempt to soothe each other with their bodies and the fracture and rebuild of their relationship from the event. The epilogue of this again quite short book leaves everything nicely neatly tied up and I would hope that the author leaves the series there, as I feel we have taken this journey with them as far as it should go.
review 2: I read the first two before I used GR but didn't realize a book 3 had been released. I really like these characters and their unconventional threesome. This book broke my heart a little bit but left me with lots of warm fuzzies too. Each character was cool but I have to say, in this one, Dag kinda stole my heart. As long as you're cool with unconventional relationships, I'd definitely recommend this series! less
