review 1: Loved this book! I found the pace wonderful, the explanations of the unusual situation unfolding before the main character to be true to form as were his reactions to the story unfolding. The story takes the reader on an adventure that involves a boy with a mission to get his voice heard that fails miserably, some nasty neighbors bent on ruining the nature around them while making a buck or two, slightly creepy nursing home patrons, and a mysterious ancient artifact that seems to have some unusual powers. This is the first novel in a series, and I am really looking forward to the next book! Due to the excellent writing, the action/fighting scenes are probably better for fifth grade and up! Have a reluctant boy reader you are looking for a good book to suggest? This i... mores the one! I am looking forward to more from this author!
review 2: This was a Goodreads book! It started off kind of slow but towards the middle it picked up and I couldn't put it down. The plot was thrilling and the way that it ended, I'm glad I had the 2nd book already so I could finish! The way the characters fit together was amazing. Every character that was brought into the story played a part of the whole story. There is no other way than to say that this is a good book that if you like ancient mystery thrillers, than this is the book for you! less
