review 1: I waited far too long to read this book. I had read only good reviews about it but never got the chance to actually buy it. But when I did, boy did I love it!I was in the mood for some fantasy, but something I had never really read about before. The author's take on goblins was definitely different from any other book I've read-- in a good way. The world she created was so enthralling I felt like I was actually there with the characters.And the characters! I loved them all! My favorite was Teagan's (the protag) little brother, Aiden. He was just so adorable, I could have just eaten him up. But that would be cannibalism.. wait, no, I still would have. He was just that cute :)This book had all the right elements: fantasy, *some* romance, and great characters/plot/writing/wor... moreld building. I am excited to see what will happen next, and hope that the next installment will be just as good :)
review 2: I have to admit I've never been much of a fan of fae, mainly because they kind of freak me out. Well, at least the stories that I feel reflect the reality of the fae--the beautiful but crewel and amoral (if not evil) version thereof. They're just a little...creepy. Anyhow, this book really brought that home, and the goblins as they're called here are distinctly creepy. That being said, I really enjoyed the book. The myths and stories that explained the world were really well done and quite engaging. I liked Teagan quite a bit, and her brother was just too cute. I could have handled getting to know Finn a little more, but I imagine there's more to come in the rest of the series. Overall, this was a fun and satisfying read. Lots of interesting details and an interesting world to get lost in! less
