review 1: Sometimes I am hit with a sudden unexplainable desire to read a book. This one hit Saturday and I am already done, which doesn't fit my usual pattern, especially lately when I have had a hard time reading at all. It had some wonderful things in it. I really liked the core idea, and if I had a house I would seriously be considering selling it right now. It seemed a bit drawn out though (The story could have been told in an article), and I certainly had trouble with the affluence it portrayed, but Salwen and his family obviously also had problems with it, which is why they did something to slow their consumption and give more, a really wonderful and admirable thing.
review 2: The story of an Atlanta family inspired by their 14-year-old daughter to sell their expe

Embedded within it is a eye-opening analysis of the failure of U.S. foreign aid in Africa and the new type of relief service that hinges on supporting work the communities are doing themselves. less

Ever so slightly "whiny" in some parts but overall a good descriptive of one family's journey.
