review 1: You really can’t help but laugh through some of the scenes in VITTORIO’S WOMAN. If you make this book a light read and take it with a grain of salt, then you could really enjoy this story. I had read a few reviews, so I knew going in not to expect the most adult schemes as Simon Vittorio tries to get Lilly Barclay pregnant. I knew going in to just go with it and laugh. I really did enjoy reading this story because the romance was hot and it wasn’t all smooth sailing. What I think made the story redeeming, at least in my mind, was that both Simon and Lilly did love each other from practically the start. They just went about it in some unorthodox manners. The accident that paralyzed, if you call it that, and causes temporary blindness isn’t the focus point. I felt tha... moret was just a way to get Simon and Lilly to meet. His recovery is quickly put on the backburner as Simon tries to win Lilly’s heart. It’s true that Simon does continually seek Lilly out and does ‘forgo’ protection and when Lilly realizes she’s in her fertile window and insists on condoms, he does indeed poke holes in them….come on, it’s a little funny. He even goes as far as getting her drunk and making her think she’s dreaming he came to her bed. What you don’t get in other reviews is the why. Lilly is so sure she’s just Simon’s flavor of the week and knows her heart will be broken if she gives into the love she feels for him. Thus Simon puts in motions his plans to win her over… yes in other ways as well. They both try jealousy on the other to make them admit their feelings and learn pretty quick how fast that can backfire. Now Simon’s racing to find Lilly and get her back where she belongs. Never letting go, they have a quick wedding and after their honeymoon plan a big one for their families. The epilogue was great. I loved reading how big their family had grown and how their love had expanded.
review 2: Decent enough read for a self published book. I can see hints of HP but at times the writing seems just a bit too flowery and juvenile. However, having said that it was still an enjoyable read.I liked that the hero loved the heroine through the whole book. He was pushing her away at first because of the damage to his legs and eyes. Of course, that only lasted a brief time before he was all about having the heroine stay with him always. His method? Trying to get the heroine pregnant and even going so far as to poke holes in the condoms. Yes, that is what I typed. He poked holes in the condoms. Hence the juvenile comment above. I thought that was waaay over the top. That I didn't like so much. That dropped the hero down in my estimation a notch, which is also why this is a 3* read and not a 4*.Another thing that bothered me is that Simon kept the fact that he could walk again from the heroine. Then when he did reveal himself she didn't even question when it happened. She was his therapist, after all.Having said all that however, it was probably one of the best epilogue's I've read. We get to see the baby she is pregnant with in the book born as well as two more children, plus another pregnancy with a little girl this time. For some that may not be the greatest epilogue but I love babies in stories and getting to see several children from the couple was a treat. less
