review 1: Serina is an extremely successful swimwear designer that lives in a tiny seaside town where the men are disappearing. She discovers that the perpetrators are mermaids, and that it is her job as the Mermaid Catcher to stop them.I was intrigued by the whole mermaid angle because it's not something that I come across a lot. However, this book had a lot of things that bothered me. When the wise old Japanese couple that lives in the town comes to tell her that she is the Mermaid Catcher, she so bothered by the existence of mermaids (which she'd already seen at that point) that she never even once asks what a Mermaid Catcher even is. Then she agrees to go into training, which involves reading a book (which she memorizes on the first read) and a 10-minute session in the water... more with a sequin- and sludge-covered ball. Yay! Now you're ready to kill the mermaids! The mermaids can transform their tails to legs (which is believable enough), but then they are able to drive cars and frame someone for a crime as if they've been watching CSI on their underwater TVs.There were also several scenes that put this in romance novel territory, and they were awkward and ill-fitting with the story. The appearance of the mermaids is linked with their breeding cycle, and Serina's link to them basically puts her in heat. It was just weird and slutty.
review 2: Serina is the owner of a bathing suit boutique that has a unique way of making the bathing suits look perfect on all women. She recently got out of a bad relationship and was beginning to feel like she is in heat. The good guys that aren't married seem to have left town, because prospects are beginning to look grim. In walks Alex, a sexy police officer asking about the disappearance of Sirena's ex. As the evidence seems to pile up against her, Serina has to find out who's trying to frame her before she ends up in jail and all the men disappear. This was a wonderful book. It was sexy, yet fun and intriguing all at once. Add some paranormal and that's what I call a great book! less

Do you like romance? Do you like mermaids? Put the two together and you have an awesome book.

Witty, sexy and fun. I still think about the wildly original (and steamy!) dimple scene.

It had a lot of potential, but I have to stop with these free romance/porn kindle books!

Not my normal reading fare, but having a book about mermaids was a nice change of pace.
