Lumberjanes Vol. 1: Beware the Kitten Holy by Noelle Stevenson, Shannon Watters & Grace Ellis | REVIEW & DISCUSSION

Hey, guys! I am super excited to discuss another graphic novel, one I really loved, which is a rare commodity for me, and that is the first novel to the Lumberjanes series! I went into it with no expectations. I just knew it was something super quick I could get through before the end of the year, and I am so glad I decided to pick this one up because it was absolutely fabulous. But let’s go ahead and get into the review!

Synopsis:

FRIENDSHIP TO THE MAX!

At Miss Qiunzilla Thiskwin Penniquiqul Thistle Crumpet’s camp for hard-core lady-types, things are not what they seem. Three-eyed foxes. Secret caves. Anagrams. Luckily, Jo, April, Mal, Molly, and Ripley are five rad, butt-kicking best pals determined to have an awesome summer together… And they’re not gonna let a magical quest or an array of supernatural critters get in their way! The mystery keeps getting bigger, and it all begins here. ”

My Thoughts:

I did not want this to finish! I just kept reading it, and it was giving me such joy because the characters are precious, and I swear two of them have to be gay, and they were women and just…I was so into this story. I was just having a good time, and then it was over, and I was like, “What? There has to be more!” And then I got all sad when there wasn’t anymore…But I really enjoyed this.

I loved the art style. I thought it was super cute and really fit the tone and style of the story. I thought it went well with the text and what was going on, and I just really loved it. I loved the colors that were used and just how this book was designed as well! I just thought it was really adorable and beautiful, and I really enjoyed it.

I also just really loved the characters. They were literally my heart and soul. All of them were super likable, even Jen. I didn’t find her annoying, even when she didn’t believe the others about what had been going on, and I really loved that. I don’t think there was a single character that I disliked, and I just really loved all of them and all of the relationships we got to see throughout this story. It was really beautiful just to be reading a story about a friendship between all of these girls!

I also really loved the premise. I don’t normally read books that have a camp setting, and it was even better because it was a camp for girls and the backbone of it was about these girls who could survive and do all of these outdoors things without a man’s help. This book really appreciated women, and I really loved that!

Overall, I really loved the writing, the story, the characters, the world, and the gorgeous artwork. I have to get my hands on the next volume because it will probably be just as good as this volume, and I am looking forward to exploring more of these characters!

And there you have it! That was my review of the first volume of Lumberjanes. What is your favorite graphic novel? Comment down below! I would love to know. And that is going to be it for this review today. Thank you all so much for reading this, I hope you enjoyed it, and I will see you next time!
