review 1: Wow... what a book! Throughout the book Jason Vallotton tells the painful story of his divorce. I found myself sharing some of the same emotions, although not nearly as intense and heartbreaking as I imagine they were. He does a great job exposing you to the emotional baggage that surrounds forgiving people. I found myself, along with him, upset, hating his ex-wife, forgiving her and eventually finding the courage to love her again. Throughout this book Jason and Kristen offer many valuable insights into working through our pain, forgiving (others and ourselves), and loving again. A couple times I felt lost and it seemed like what they were discussing was unrelated (although still good) , but I think it probably was important and what would have been helpful if they includ... moreed a summary or recap at some point. The best part about this book is that it doesn't offer an easy way out, such as sweeping it under the rug and just trying to think happy thoughts (which in reality is probably the hard way). Instead they take the time to be real, to encounter the roots of pain, bitterness, etc, and work with God to eradicate them to find true healing. Read this book multiple times!
review 2: WOWOWOWOWOWOW!!!!I read this, then asked my son to read it, and I would recommend it to everyone else I know. The Supernatural Power of Forgiveness is a relatable, raw look at dealing with pain, remaining pure before the Lord, and seeking restoration through forgiveness. From the very first chapter, you feel like you can relate to Jason and the pain he is going through. I felt like I could especially identify with Kris Vallotton from the perspective of being a dad trying to help his son. Very moving, very emotional, very powerful. less
