review 1: Starring Me - Krista McGee(*SPOILER ALERT!!!*) 4.5starsIt was good. But First Date was better. There was more suspense on First Date. It had the part with the countdown where some of the girls were taken out of the show. I could literally feel the suspense. There wasn't really any suspense in this one. And I liked "The Book of Love" better than the auditions they were doing in this one. And I connected with Addy more than with Kara. Not to mention the romance. It was kind of weird. Kara and Chad saw each other three times throughout the entire book. The White House, the hospital, and when they discovered they were working together. In First Date Jonathan was there through about half of the book, if not more. Also, in the last scene, when Chad and Kara found out they were c... moreostars, Chad put his arms around her neck and she put hers on his waist. A bit too romantic for the third time you see someone, don't you think?Kara was great. She was enthusiastic, and outgoing, and funny, and sweet, and endearing. I enjoyed her quality time with Flora. Her relationship with her family was wonderfully sweet. And her visualizations of Chad as a "Greek god" was hilarious! So glad she got saved! Something went wrong with the cover model though. Her skin tone does not go with her hair color at all! They should've just gotten a different model or something.Chad was awesome of course. And handsome. And fun. And respectful. And kind. And - okay, okay, I'll shut up. I'm glad it showed a bit of his conflict in staying pure. And that crazy lovesick fan that clobbered poor Chad - Oh, that made me laugh so hard!Flora was so funny, kind, and reliable. And such a good friend and Christian. Her love for literature and intense knowledge gave her such a hilarious and wise personality.I'm so glad it had Addy in there. She was just as wonderful and supportive as before.Jonathon was in there too. He was also great. But he was so shy. He blushed just about every time Chad mentioned Addy, and he wouldn't even admit they were boyfriend and girlfriend. The McKormick clan was amazing! They were so kind, and loud, and funny, and considerate, and so sweet. I can't get enough of them!I knew there was something wrong with Jillian. She just didn't really seem like much of a Christian to me. She did seem nice though. I didn't know it was all just a ruse.Anna Grace was a brat as usual. The other girls weren't as bad, but they weren't very nice either.Ashley was great. The severe no-nonsense little woman dealt with the snobs wonderfully.Well, I better go. Right Where I Belong is waiting for me.
review 2: I loved this book. I'm not usually a fan of Christian teen chick lit, but this is an exception. It wasn't too preachy(in my opinion) but didn't lose it's Christian touch and actually helped me through a tough time with my own faith. I love how realistic it seemed. Considering I live with missionary parents, I've seen God do things like that often, and reading about her experiencing it delighted me. Not enough people see God's greater plan at work.I love the idea Krista had about God pursuing Kara. I also ADORED Flora. Flora made me laugh out loud quite a few times, which is quite a feat for me.However, I do wish that Kara and Chad hadn't immediately gotten together at the end. I wish they had somewhat followed Addy and Jonathan's path, taking it slow. They'd known each other for hardly any time and just knew they were for each other. Perhaps it's just me.All in all, this will be a book that will stay on my shelf until it is literally falling apart, which might happen sooner than you'd think. less
