review 1: The only part that bothered me about this book is that the ending is so sudden. I feel that the ending didn't seem like really like an ending. I not only wanted to know more but felt the story just wasn't done, and I didn't want it to be. But other then that this is a great story about a girl not only trying to discover herself but figure out who her single mother was before her and why she is the way she is. Also a journey to find her father whom details of are very scares from her mother. All the while trying to figure out who she is, what she is doing, and how her parents, both unknown in their own sense, shaped who she is and continue to shape who she is.
review 2: The writing was good. The sense of place, especially in San Francisco, was excellent. I never
... more quite warmed up to Lemon, though a lot of her bone-headed teenage decisions resonated with me. Stella, Lemon's goofball mother, was mostly just annoying. I think that Madonia tried to cram too many different plot points into the book, and it was a little crowded. Some passages were lovely, and I think Madonia is a writer to watch. I want to read her third book. less
