review 1: Reading this book, it became very apparent why her blog is called We're THAT Family. You know those "bad mom" moments that all us moms have? Well, this book is pretty much a recording of all of Welch's moments. But somewhere, along with the painful, awkward and sometimes heartbreaking, there are also plenty of gutwrenchingly honest, heartwarming and eye opening points. Some that make you go "ouch...that's me." But with the "ouch" there's the band aid of God's grace and hope of the future. I'm pretty sure this book was meant to be a devotional, but I read it in one night...I think I needed the extra encouragement that night.
review 2: If you know what to expect, this is a nice little book. It's not a devotional, nor a parenting manual, but contains elements of ... moreboth. Each chapter has a short parenting story - and we all know what sort, the ones where you have an "aha!" or "oops" moment - followed by a short Bible verse which amplifies or clarifies the parenting lesson learned, and a short prayer. The verse and prayer are only a few lines long, the story under 2 pages, so this is the ideal book to dip into during your few precious free moments. less
