review 1: Open House is Krystal Shannan's first book in her Pool of Souls series. Open House features real estate agent Rebecca Carol and businessman Robert Corvin. And of course mythological gods Ares and Aphrodite. I am a huge fan of mythology so I was very happy to read a romance story with a blend of mythology and modern life. I really enjoyed how Krystal handled the mythological characters. It is hard to be unique when retooling mythology but I thought Krystal did an awesome job. Loved the plot and the characters. Highly recommend!
review 2: First I want to mention how amazed I am that she was able to give a detailed story in just over 50 pages. I was hesitant to believe that this would be more than just a quick sex scene. What she amazed me with was a story t... morehat was heart warming, had some drama and was just easy to read and believe. I am not really educated about the Gods and all the mythology that goes with it, but she had me as interested in that part of the story as I was with Robert and Rebecca.The two main characters were just honest and real people who was willing to do what they needed to merge into a couple. Since it isn’t a novel, it isn’t like I had over three hundred pages to invest myself into the characters, but she wrote them with such love and attraction, it didn’t take long for me to care about them. The story flows perfectly, there aren’t any stand still moments that you wish would hurry and pass. There isn’t a high intensity that makes you gasp and refuse to feed your family in order to figure out what happens. It is a feel good short story that makes you believe in love and soul mates again.I am giving this book a five heart, not only for the sweet story and the hot sex scenes but for the fact she proved to me that you can develop characters to the point that the reader cares about them in under 100 pages. I shake my head in amazement because I rarely trust that my heart will be affected by short stories. I was cheering for Robert and Rebecca. I am happy to say I am now moving on to her next book in this series and will be posting a review of it soon. Please make sure you check out all of her work at Amazon and Goodreads.
