review 1: OK, I know I'm going "against the grain here, and maybe it is b/c I listened to the audio version of this book and hated the narrator, but I did not like this story. First of all, the novelty of this book having animals instead of people wears off fast. Despite the references to paws, fur, tails and muzzles (better not to dwell on how kissing with tongue works with muzzles); it is basically a MM romance, complete with a lot of sex scenes Unfortunately it is not a very good MM romance and the narrator has a really annoying lisp that makes his “s” sound like “th”. In addition, he rushes and mumbles through dialogue in some places to the extent that he runs out of breath by the end. His narration is really distracting. I kept wanting to tell him to “breathe an... mored slow down.” That being said, I also didn't like the basic story nor the MCs. At the heart, this book is a romance between a wanna be gay rights activist college student (a fox) that also loves football and a “gay for you” college football player ( a tiger). Not an original concept, but OK. The basic problem with this book is I really didn’t relate or like the couple. I found the concept of Dev (tiger) saying he loves the fox (I forgot his name) but keeping their relationship in the closet, ridiculous. That is usually when you come out of the closet, not shove the door shut. Also, the fox was just annoying in his acceptance of this. After a while, I didn’t really care if they got together or not. I’m sure this is just a personal preference, which is why I gave it 3 stars; other people apparently really like this series.
review 2: I enjoyed this book way more than I thought I would. While in the beginning I was a bit weirded out by the “furry” aspect, and I certainly wasn’t prepared for the graphic illustrations, as it progressed I grew more comfortable and was able to really enjoy the book. I think there was WAY too much football in it, however. Also, the book seemed neverending. I felt like I was going to be reading it forever. But, the dialogue more than made up for the length and the endless football references and play-by-plays. Their banter was very clever and well written.3.5 stars less

The first 1/3 was fun and the end was fun, but just too much football description in the middle.
