review 1: This is a satisfying conclusion to the Angel series. I enjoyed Willow, Alex and Seb's passion and desire to stop the angels from destroying humanity. Once the world was semi-destroyed and "Angel Eden's" started popping up across the country, I thought the AKs did a great job of maintaining their anonymity while training their army to defeat the angels via simulation exercises. Of course there was teen angst (lots of it really), depression, fear, shoulda, woulda, coulda, etc but I think Ms. Weatherly did an excellent job of keeping the tension alive by giving the reader the inside scoop on Raziel and his plans while keeping the AKs in the dark. An excellent series that has quite a bit of unique elements that keep the story refreshing and exciting.

... morem seriously at a loss as to why authors consistently insist upon distracting their characters from the final goal in last books of series. This seems to be the running theme. It’s not enough that in YA it’s almost guaranteed that the love focus will fight, break up, separate or go through some teen drama before the climax of the plot. But more and more I’m starting to see it in book three and book four of series I’m looking to finish, and it’s really starting to grate on my nerves.See, let me tell you what this book should have been. This book that I was HUGELY looking forward to for what feels like forever. It should have been Alex and Willow, pulling together all their resources, making one last ditch effort to save the day, fighting, losing friends, never losing themselves, all hope seeming lost, cue hail mary, and then a triumphant and barely believable win at the very end.Instead this book was Alex deciding to go off halfcocked like he’s the sole focus of the book, to seemingly get himself killed, while Willow angsts a lot, gets jealous over someone she claims not to want, then fights with said boyfriend when he miraculously returns, before some awkward ending with an even more awkward boss fight. No XP reward, no finishing combo. Was this book horrible? No, considering what Allegiant turned out to be, and Champion, this book is miles ahead of them. But I just couldn’t understand why Weatherly continuously made Alex and Willow deal with things that would have been better served in book one or two of the series. These things, like the separation and fighting between Alex and Willow made the book slump and drag its feet.I wanted a lot more, I was really in love with this series, but I suppose I should just be thankful for the happy ending. I suppose. less
