review 1: We all remember the Normans from our high school history course. They conquered England under William the Conqueror. However, did you know they also conquered Sicily and Southern Italy? There they set up the Norman Kingdom of Sicily where one of its last kings was also the Holy Roman Emperor. Even further afield, they Prince of Antioch was also a Norman. This book tells their story, and with it the story of the awaking of Europe. This is an excellent read.

... moreook interesting and informative. An added bonus is that the information is written in a very readable manner; it isn't dull or overly detailed. For the casual historical reader or amateur history buff, this is an excellent source on a group of people who had a tremendous effect on western European society. less
