review 1: I picked this book up at a discount store mainly due to the price - however, it has become one of my favorite books of all time. I have read it several times in the past few years...it's a cute, love story. I guess I mostly enjoy reading it because it gave me hope. After a divorce & leading a life as a single mom, I can relate to the main character and her love of her son being the number one concern in her life. She has no expectations of finding love again and one day it just simply appears. Such a great story when you are feeling down in the dumps!
review 2: Ugh. Where to start? Well, I am the staff portion of a library book club, and this was a book selected before I came on board. The best I can say about it is that the font was nice and large and it wa
... mores a quick read. As for the not nice things? Let me make a list:1) The main character identifies herself as a good person because she is a good kindergarten teacher. She judges this by the fact that she wears high heels, bold polka dotted dresses, and colorful earrings because the children like it. Show me a kindergarten teacher who wears high heels and dressed like Donna Reed and I'll show you a teacher who is going to burn out after 2 days.2) Said teacher suffocates her own son and identifies these behaviors as proof that she is a good mother. She is rewarded when her grade-schooler says witty things, proving that she's done a good job of parenting.3) She believes that life and love can only be achieved through a "hokey pokey" philosophy. Seriously. I'm not making this up. She teaches her kindergarteners to do the hokey pokey and sincerely believes that "putting your whole self in" is really what it's all about.4) The author doesn't even realize that the abovementioned statement is not only utterly ridiculous unless you live in a land of teddy bears and rainbows, but that it's actually kind of pornographic.5) I would have more enjoyed trying to eat the book page by page than I did the hours it took to read it. I cannot get those hours back. Some of the book clubbers said her first novel was better. I'll take their word for it and look for other theories of love that don't involve references to kindergarten dance moves. less

Like a fun chick flick - no real depth, but a fun read.

Kind of a "stupid" book, but very entertaining!

Liked the "Hokey Pokey" idea to life.
