review 1: This was a lighthearted and thoroughly entertaining "what if?" variation of Pride & Prejudice. Given the very nature of the plot--as well as many other specific references throughout the story--the author's love of the movie, "You've Got Mail" is quite evident. I particularly enjoyed the concept that Elizabeth and Darcy would communicate with each other via notes left in a book. It was also interesting to read several extended scenes (one in which Mr. Collins takes a morning swim) and a couple alternate endings--although I found the events surrounding Mr. Collins' untimely end to be in exceedingly poor taste (excuse the pun).
review 2: This was a surprisingly good little 'What if' Pride & Prejudice variation. Well written (though in need of a better copy editor
... more) and very, very funny at times. Not overly sweet as a lot of these P&P books can be, and thankfully no sex! Not that I'm opposed to a sexy book, but Jane Austen and explicit sex do not mix well with me. I was leery of trying this book when I heard the concept was 'Pride and Prejudice meets You've got Mail'. But it really seemed to work here, and some of the secondary characters got a much more prominent role in this book, specifically Mr. Bennet and Mr. Bingley. The author does a good job of capturing Lizzy's wit and humor, and the book shows both to best advantage. I highly recommend! less
