review 1: There are a lot of reasons why I liked this read- one of which was that the story was incredibly familiar. It was very 50 shades/crossfire series/Gabriel's inferno. All of those series I really liked, so it was fine, and I didn't mind the predictably of the story at all.The one thing that I find interesting is that I find it hard to trust Hudson. I would be really sad if all of this turned out to be one of his elaborate manipulations. I guess I'll just have to read on to see.
review 2: For adult romance, this is a really good read if you like characters that aren't knight in shinning armor meets beautiful Pollyanna. It's not flowers, poems, and rainbows. It addresses inner demons that hold the MCs to their past mistakes. It's about two flawed people with f'd u... morep pasts that's rendered them to seclude themselves emotionally with only the company of their own darknesses. Love is dangerous to them, albeit for each of them very different ends of the spectrum of obsession. When the boundaries between a sexual arrangement devoid of emotions and a pretend relationship of love become blurred, what will the MCs do? - fall into old patterns of hurtful obsession or fall into each other heart, soul, and body? Will their pasts connect them in healing or push them to destroy each other? The writing, characters, & plot are A+ for this genera. My only complaint, and it's more of a warning to other readers than a complaint, was that the female MCs wishy-washy inner monologues during the first part of the book annoyed me a little and almost made me put the book down... However, as I got to know her, her indecisive fretting made sense and I completely understood her inner struggles. I do wish that Hudson had a POV. Although frightening, geez, I'd love to see what goes through that SEXY man's head through the story! Such a beautiful bastard! less
