review 1: Overall it was better than expected, but missed the mark for me on a few points. It started out pretty slow, and it took me a while to get invested in these relationships / characters. I realize it was supposed to be 'just sex' for them at the beginning, but the relationships were *so* casual that it really lacked any emotional hook. I stuck with it, and got drawn in much more later on as the relationships intensified and the stakes got a bit higher. I was a bit unsatisfied by the ending - it probably would have worked for some people, but I guess I had just been hoping for a different outcome. It seemed to me that our heroine had a bit more of a connection with Matt (beyond sex), so I was kind of hoping she would end up having a primary relationship with him, while keepin... moreg a secondary relationship with Scott (rather than keeping them on equal footing). It seems like she and Matt were both looking for a two-person relationship, and Scott was comfortable with the part-time role in his other relationships, so it seemed like it would have made sense to play it out that way. On the positive side, I want to thank the author of this book with all my heart for making these people accessible - not making the guys billionaires with 12-inch dicks, and making the heroine confident about her looks without waxing on and on about her being the most beautiful woman alive. A lot of those details were left to the reader's imagination, and the story was better for it. The hotness of the sex in this book probably depends a lot on the reader and what you are into. There was a lot that really wasn't my cup of tea, so it was a bit 'meh' at times, but if you are really into say, flogging, this could be a much hotter read for you.
review 2: 3.5 stars for the one and it was definitely a steamy one! Basically the story of a woman interested in the BDSM lifestyle, bored with the sex life she had with her ex, and wanting to dip her toes in the water of the BDSM lifestyle.......enter her gorgeous best friend who just so happens to be a Dom, and whom also wants to help teach her. Add to this her equally hot neighbour, who although not a Dom, is into voyeurism, and you basically get the story of Kristen, scott and matts growing relationship.it was definitely an interesting read, really enjoyed the individual characters and their relationship with each other, only reason I couldn't give it more than 3.5 stars was because I sort of struggled with the outcome, not sure what I would have wanted to happen, and not wanting to give too much away, but the end left me slightly flat and I wanted there to be a few more pages to add to the epilogue. less
