Blurb:

You can never really hide from what you’re meant to be…

A blood curse. Deadly secrets. A dark stranger.

When her deputy sheriff father goes missing, Lily Turner learns the quaint logging town of Pioneer Falls harbors terrible secrets– an unspeakable past connected to her family and a blood curse her father has hidden from his three daughters.

When Morgan McAllister arrives in town, Lily can’t deny their mutual attraction. But falling for Morgan may derail Lily’s efforts to find her father and to save her younger sisters from the family fate.

Searching for answers deep in the shadowy forests that surround the town, Lily will risk everything to uncover the truth. As hunters are exposed and rivals for the territory circle the Turner sisters, no one in Pioneer Falls is safe– especially with the full moon rising.

From the author of Never Cry Werewolf comes this suspenseful new series full of dark secrets and heartfelt romance.

SASCHA DARLINGTON’S REVIEW

Life is routine for Lily Turner. She has a football playing boyfriend, is looking forward to leaving her small town for college, and her biggest worry is her younger sister “borrowing” her clothes. And, then her father disappears and life as Lily knew it will never be the same.

A Curse So Dark takes place in the days following her father’s disappearance as Lily unfolds the mystery that her father has been trying so hard to hide. The mystery brings disbelief, danger and mistrust to Lily, who must now, as the temporary legal guardian to her twin sisters, keep them safe as well as herself.

I enjoyed A Curse So Dark. The mystery surrounding Lily’s family and her father’s disappearance kept me turning pages. While a lot of the mystery hinges on Lily’s father not being the sharpest tack in the box (I mean, really, Mr. Turner, did you think you’d live forever with your secret?), I was okay with that.

The alluring presence of Morgan McAllister is also a draw and I liked how Heather Davis wrote this attraction between Lily and Morgan as if the magnetism between them is stronger than their wills, that you know when they finally totally trust each other that the spell will be even stronger.

I look forward to the next installment of the Pioneer Falls series.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
