The Bare Bones MC
review 1: The bare bones4****Really starting to enjoy these MC stories! This one was one of our favourites.Maddy is a 15 year old feisty I can look after myself kinda girl, she finds for herself because she has to, as her mother is crap! The only time she feels accepted is with a boy but it's not love.... untill she meets Ford.Ford is part of an MC and works for his creepy dad cropper, he don't care about anyone or anything until he meets maddyThings are going perfect with this young couple until cropper does something disgusting! And maddy flees leaving behind a Heartbroken Ford.15 years on they crash in to each other and realise there love for each other is just as strong as before. Can they make it work? Or will creepy cropper ruin everything? This story is dark, twisted but lovi... moreng all at the same time.As soon as Maddy sets eyes on Ford we were rooting for them. While screaming at Cropper for being so vile..The book is well written, and you can't put it down.Highly recommended!!
review 2: Because I am just an ordinary woman, with an ordinary family, living an ordinary life in my ordinary house in an ordinary town in the UK I love books that are extra-ordinary. Whether it's a film or a book, Sci-fi, paranormal, whatever - I want to be transported away from the mundane into a world that is so different that it fuels my imagination and just for a while I can live vicariously through the characters. One of my particular favourites to read are MC books. It's a lifestyle so alien to anything I've ever experienced that I find myself almost hearing the rumble of a Harley's pipes, the smell and feel of the leathers, the freedom of living on the very edge of society with a different moral code to life so when I was asked to review this book there was no way I was turning it down especially as I had not read anything else by the author. Unfortunately almost from the beginning I struggled. Having finished the book (something I wasn't sure I was going to be able to do) I am still not sure if I actually enjoyed it or not. The POV switches frequently between the two central characters and also, at times, comes across as if the female is actually writing a letter to some unexplained person detailing her life events. It might also benefit from re-editing although I did find phrases such as "carved like a turkey" to describe the male character's muscle definition! The two central characters are Madison, who at the start of the book is 15 and due to parental neglect is not living the good life, and Ford the 17 year old VP of The Bare Bones MC. Ford's father, Cropper, is the President of the MC and has recently moved in with Madison's mother to give himself and his club the air of respectability. The story then becomes one of young love between Maddy and Ford but with Cropper always a menacing presence in the background. Things happen that force Maddy to run away from home and the story then picks up a few years later. Ford is still the VP but is now also an ex-SEAL veteran and Maddy is a well-respected cardiac nurse. The book contains many very dark themes including, but not limited to, child molestation, the use of drugs to enable multiple men to participate in unconsensual sexual acts and murder which readers may find offensive.Till next time ~ Sweets Books(written by Tina ~ Sweets Books After Hours) less
