review 1: Who hasn't thought that they should hide some aspect of themselves as they were so sure no one would understand and wouldn't like them? Well as I remember it in high school this angst is so much worse and I could totally understand why Maddie Summers would decide to turn her back on her "nerd" tendencies. Of course just because you hide something about yourself doesn't mean you can turn your back on your inner self and that is the hard learned lesson Maddie has to come to terms with over the summer. In some ways her choices seemed very easy to me, of course you pick to do the things you love and be with the guy who gives you butterflies even if it means not being popular, because you can have other things to replace what you have now, but as always things are never that ea... moresy. Turn your back on everything you've built over high school? Leave behind the only life you feel means you won't be teased and tormented endlessly? The emotions navigated in this story felt real and I did love that Maddie wasn't unfeeling and really understood when she had hurt someone and her coming to terms with who she is and discovering how happy you can be when you let people really know who you are inside and they don't turn away from you.
review 2: I was looking for books to read, and I came across this one, and one of the main reasons I wanted to read this book is because I'm a major nerd, because I read a lot of books. I liked the book and I love how she is always talking about how much she loves the comics and it sounds like me sometimes fantisying about my books. The one thing that bothered me was how she became a cheerleader to hide that all, just because of one incident doesn't mean everyone is going to make fun of you for the rest of your life, and going down the social latter for liking comics, that really doesn't happen. Reading comics and loving them is pretty awesome because it just is. less

It begins (and goes along for a while) with A LOT of cliches, but, hey, it really grows on you
