review 1: This was another of those quirky "graphic novels" that I like so much -- the story of a relationship from start to finish, told in the form of an catalog for an auction of snapshots, correspondence, souvenirs and other objects from day to day life. Fascinating and voyeuristic! My only real quibble is that the photos were all a bit grainy and low-contrast (typical of a low-end auction catalog, I guess) which made it hard to see what was there...
review 2: I was very excited when I came across this book in the bookstore, because I'd been wanting to read it for a while. It's a clever and creative way to tell a breakup story, one that makes you consider your physical objects differently and ponder the sameness/differences of all relationships, all breakups. But th... moree format also left me hunting for clues and Deep Hidden Meanings where there weren't any. Which made me feel like a crazy partner...or maybe a soon-to-be ex. less
