review 1: I highly recommend this one and the author. Lee Roland has built a fascinating urban fantasy world with rules quite different that others. She's created characters, both the main characters and secondary ones, that care about and make me crave other books where they will continue their adventures. The main character is Cassandra Archer, whom the Earth Mother has called into service as her Huntress. Cass's specialty is finding children who have gone missing in the Barrows - a part of the city of Duvial with crime-filled streets and monster-packed sewers. She's a bit super-human, though she won't admit it even to herself. She's got two guys vying for her attention: hunky and scrappy Detective Flynn and a not-entirely human, wrong-side-of-the-law but ethereally gorgeous Michael... more. She's also lives with a cat called Horus who can definitely out-grouch Garfield any day and two snakes, Nefertiti and Nirah. Now, when I say this character captured my imagination and my heart, you really need to take into account my snake phobia. Lizards, I love, but I'm with Indiana Jones when it comes to snakes.Yes, it took a lot for me to get past the descriptions of her snakes cuddling up with Cass, so that testifies to the quality of Roland's writing and the excellence of the story she spins here in Viper Moon. Pick this one up ASAP. You won't be disappointed.
review 2: For me more like 3.5 stars. It was a touch different only because of the creepy creatures and the huntress aspect. I thought the love triangle could have been handled with more suspense and I thought she fell in love way to easily. I really disliked the villain in the book being called the " darkness" I get it they didn't know to call him anything else it it was just so cliche. It was not written fabulously but not bad either. I found myself marginally drawn in. I may read the next installment less

The book opened very promisingly, but all down here from there. I just did not like it.

Hated it. The story failed to pick up and I ended up stopping halfway through.
