review 1: I would give this book 3.5 stars. I'm currently on a YA romance/beach theme. Out of all the ones, I've read this one is pretty good. I really loved the supporting characters in the book, more so than the main characters. Loved all the inn employees, and Cricket's mom. I hate Cricket's so called "best friend", but I did love the character of her mom. Overall it's a lot deeper than the typical beach read.
review 2: A nice, summery comtemporary read, reminding me of Sarah Dessen's books. I loved the setting; Nantucket, the beaches, the Inn, all were well described. The writing is good and Cricket was a likeable main character, although she felt very young to me and she does make a couple of stupid decisions. I didn't like how she traded her own family in for a 'be... moretter version' and how she kept wanting to change her mom and make her go on dates and stuff. Cricket seemed dependant on Jules (who is a total bitch), but in the end she learned to be her own person. less
