review 1: For about 3/4 of the book I was highly engaged in the storyline and fascinated by the world Lena Coakley was building in Witchlanders. Unfortunately the author did not deliver in the end. I found myself skimming pages at a time trying to get to an interesting part or to the heart of the Baen/Witchlanders fued. The story never did define the reason behind the war that tore the two cultures apart. I give 3.5 stars. The novel.is not bad, especially for a debut novel but it could have been epic!
review 2: It really wasn't for me. I really wanted to love this book, but I really didn't care for it by the end. I gave it three stars because the book was written so well and the story was interesting. Also, the cover just took my breath away. I will say this the c... moreover is misleading for me at least. I didn't realize when I picked this book up from the library that the main character was a boy. All in all a decent book that wasn't for me. less
